“Rhiannon” is Track 4 and the second U.S. single from Fleetwood Mac’s 10th studio album, the self-titled Fleetwood Mac (1975). Issued as a remix with a longer title, “Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win)” reached #11 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart in June 1976. “Sugar Daddy” was the b-side of the US single. The remix appears on The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac (2002), Fleetwood Mac reissue (2004), and Fleetwood Mac reissue (2018).
By 1978, with the global success of Fleetwood Mac’s 11th studio album Rumours, “Rhiannon” was internationally reissued as a single, alongside its album Fleetwood Mac. In February 1978, the reissued single reached #46 on the UK single charts.
An early take of “Rhiannon” appears on the 2018 reissue of Fleetwood Mac.

Triad
Rhiannon is a character in the 1973 science fiction novel Triad by Mary Leader. Enamored by the name, Stevie wrote the song that became the classic “Rhiannon.” Years later, Stevie learned that Rhiannon was the Welsh horse goddess in Celtic mythology. The striking similarities between the song “Rhiannon” and Rhiannon of the Welsh stories, unbeknownst to her at the time, inspired Stevie to write other songs about Rhiannon, many of which are still unreleased.
When Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, many of the songs they had written for a proposed second Buckingham Nicks album (“Monday Morning,” “Rhiannon,” “Landslide,” and “I’m So Afraid”) were used for Fleetwood Mac instead.

Lyrics
Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn’t you love to love her
Takes to the sky like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover
All your life you’ve never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven
Will you ever win
She is like a cat in the dark
And then she is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark
And when the sky is starless
All your life you’ve never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven
Will you ever win
Will you ever win
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
She rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn’t you love to love her
She rules her life like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover
All your life you’ve never seen a woman
Taken by the wind
Would you stay if she promised you heaven
Will you ever win
Will you ever win
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Rhiannon
Ooh…
Taken by
Taken by the sky
Taken by
Taken by the sky
Taken by
Taken by the sky
Dreams unwind
Love’s a state of mind
Dreams unwind
Love’s a state of mind
