In October 2018, Fleetwood Mac embarked on a world tour with new band members Neil Finn and Michael Campbell. Produced by Live Nation, the “50 Years” tour started in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 5, 2018 and included shows in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
In addition to playing its most popular songs (such as “The Chain,” “Dreams,” and “Don’t Stop”), the reconfigured Fleetwood Mac has performed a diverse set list consisting of songs from its entire catalog, including tracks from its blues roots, such as the 1968 single “Black Magic Woman” (later popularized by Santana) and “Oh Well,” both songs written by co-founding member Peter Green. They have also performed songs from their transitional years from 1969 to 1974 (“Tell Me All the Things You Do,” “Hypnotized”), during which different band members came and went.
The band has been paying tribute to late musician Tom Petty, with whom Stevie Nicks and Michael Campbell had close ties. Stevie sings lead on “Free Fallin'” and Michael performs “Oh Well,” the latter being a favorite cover song of Petty. “All Over Again,” a deep cut from the band’s 1995 album Time, has closed some shows.
On November 16, 2018, Rhino Records released the 3CD retrospective Fleetwood Mac — 50 Years: Don’t Stop to help promote the tour.
On March 29, 2019, Stevie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist at Barclays Center in New York. Days after the ceremony, Stevie fell ill with the flu and was later hospitalized for pneumonia. Fleetwood Mac decided to reschedule the remaining shows on the North American leg of the tour and postpone the tour until June to allow for Stevie’s full recovery.
The world tour will come to a close in Las Vegas, on November 16, 2019.
