25 Years: The Chain is a box set of retrospective material. With 72 tracks, spread over four compact discs (and four cassettes), the set includes singles, remixes, alternate versions, live performances, four new songs, and 64-page photo booklet with selected discography.
“Silver Springs” makes its digital debut on 25 Years. Controversially removed from Rumours (1977) because of its length, the completed track ended up as the b-side of the “Go Your Own Way” single.
Other highlights include “Goodbye Angel” and “Teen Beat,” two unreleased songs from Mirage (1982); the alternate unedited version of “Gypsy,” also from Mirage; and the unreleased alternate version of “Lay It All Down” from Future Games (1971).
Warner Bros. released the box set on November 24, 1992 and supported the release with the singles “Paper Doll” (in North America), “Love Shines” (in Europe), and “Don’t Stop.” Internationally, Warner Bros. also issued the condensed, two-disc/two-cassette Selections from 25 Years: The Chain.
In 2012, Warner Bros. reissued the original four-disc box set in Europe and Australia.
