Greatest Hits is a Fleetwood Mac retrospective with the 1975 group lineup, featuring the group’s most popular singles from 1975 to 1987 (such as “Sara,” which makes its full-length debut on CD). It includes two new songs, Christine McVie’s “As Long As You Follow” and Stevie Nicks’ “No Questions Asked.” Both songs feature vocals from new members Billy Burnette and Rick Vito, who replaced departing guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. In the liner notes, the band dedicates the collection to Buckingham, with “all our love.”
Release
On November 15, 1988, Warner Bros. Records released Greatest Hits on CD, cassette, and vinyl formats. The international edition featured a slightly different track selection (see below). The single “As Long As You Follow,” with an accompanying music video, helped promote the collection and reached number 43 on the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart and number one on the Adult Contemporary chart. On March 16, 2000, the RIAA certified Greatest Hits 8X platinum for the shipment of eight million units to retailers.
